Chekhov's Menu for Journalists
I have Choice Cuts: A Miscellany of Food Writing by Mark Kurlansky and there is a short menu for journalists proposed by Anton Chekhov. M.K. said that Chekhov must have been very young when he scribbled this:
MENU FOR JOURNALISTS
An eight-course meal
- A glass of vodka
- Cabbage soup and yesterday’s kasha
- Two glasses of vodka
- Suckling pig with horseradish
- Three glasses of vodka
- Horseradish, cayenne pepper and soy sauce
- Four glasses of vodka
- Seven bottles of beer
A drunk Russian
