In Defense of Donald Duck

Our lunchtime discussion was on the Disney characters that we hated and two said, Donald Duck. I like Donald. He is just misunderstood, I think. Although I, too, wrote against him, citing that funny Marxist book, How To Read Donald Duck, as a take-off. Until I realized his genealogy and realized why is he always on the verge of a nervous breakdown?

1) Triplet nephews Huey, Louie and Dewey, all out to play tricks on him.
2) Sister Dumbella who sent the three on a vacation that never ended

3) Cousin Gus Goose. His aunt brought him another letter: "Dear Nephew- This is your cousin Gus Goose. I am sending him to visit you - Love, Aunt Fanny PS: He don't eat much." And of course, that's all Gus did.

4) Another lazy cousin, Gladstone Gander, the luckiest duck who makes all ducks around him, esp. Donald, very unlucky indeed
5) Uncle Scrooge McDuck. Richest in Duckburg but super-stingy indeed
