Heartbroken Thieves of Ilocos in Cable: True Story
Two weeks ago, Andres Ardosa, Jefferson Lerio and one other personwere jailed for stealing telephone cables in Sarrat, Ilocos Norte.
A day later, Andres Ardosa committed suicide by hanging himself in his detention cell. It was learned that Arosa was heartbroken because his wife ran off with someone even before he was caught stealing wires.
This weekend, Lerio was rushed to the hospital again for committing suicide, this time by slashing his left wrist. Lerio was rescued but the police were dumbfounded as to where he got the bladed weapon to cut himself as they found no weapon in the jail house. Lerio also slashed himself in other parts of the body. He still has not talked about why he wanted to commit suicide.
Right now, the Sarrat police are also eyeing the third member of the heartbroken cable thieves.
House Bill 2695, filed by Ilocos Sur 1st District Rep. Ronald Singson penalizes those persons who steal or possess stolen or pilfered cable or telephone wires.
