The Costly Kiss: Nine Dead so Far

Four people in La Union confirmed killed by wrath of Typhoon Cosme.
The La Union Provincial Disaster Coordinating Council identified the dead as Domingo Ubongen, Juanito Estacio, Leopoldo Labasan and Pepito Estacio.
Estacio, 68, of Carunuan Barangay in Rosario, La Union was struck by a flying galvanized sheet and was killed on the way to the hospital for lack of blood. Estacio, 74, of Raois, Sto. Tomas was likewise killed by a flying galvanized iron while he was guarding his fishpond.
Labasan, 37, of Bani, Rosario drowned after being swept to the sea, the PPDC said.
The towns of Sto Tomas, Agoo, Tubao, Pugo, Rosario and Aringay were declared as calamity areas because of the heavy rains partnered by tornadoes.
Two other residents in Pangasinan were confirmed killed after Typhoon Cosme made a landfall in the province yesterday. Earlier, three siblings were swept by a tornado in Dagupan City.
Seventy-two year old Lourdes Soriano was killed when she was struck by a flying galvanized sheet in Dagupan City. The Pangasinan Provincial Disaster Coordinating Council also said that an unidentified man was also killed when he was struck by flying debris also in Dagupan.
The Pangasinan Provincial Disaster Coordinating Council earlier reported that three siblings in Dagupan City are missing after a tornado hit their home last night. The missing are identified as Randel Poserio, 4; Rodem, 3 and two-year-old Miguel. Typhoon Cosme was making its landfall in Pangasinan when the shanty where the Poserios were staying was suddenly ripped off by the tornado. Their mother. Rachel, said that she was helpless because she was also carrying her six-month old child.
