UB on Fire
The University of Baguio, one of the biggest universities in Northern Luzon, was hit by a fire shortly before lunch Saturday. The fire started in the old high school at about 11:30 am, said Baguio Vice-Mayor Danny Farinas, UB legal affairs chief. The fire then struck the Rosa C. Bautista Bldg, which is where the nursing, dentistry and physical therapy departments were located. The fire razed the UB Preparatory High School, a mostly wooden building built almost 60 years ago, Farinas said."We tried to contain the fire but we ran out of water so it went up the RCB Building," he said. No one was injured. UB is owned and founded by the family of Baguio Mayor Reinaldo Bautista in 1948. This is the third fire that hit the university for the past 20 years.
