Is Downloading Stealing: The Semantics of File Sharing

L.A. Times came out with an interesting opinion about file sharing a/o stealing.
I need this clarification otherwise I am no different to Ben Abalos when I download a book from gutenberg.org, for example. "There's a fundamental difference between intellectual property (copyrights, patents, trademarks) and real property (houses, cars, plasma TVs): The latter is tangible and limited in supply, the former is not."
