Funny though that Indonesians actually believe that death came into the world because of bananas.
The natives of Poso say that in the beginning the Creator gave gifts to men using a rope. One day Creator tied a stone at the end of a rope and gave it to the Man and Woman. Not knowing what to do with it, the nitwits asked for another gift. The Creator then gave a banana. Well, who could resist such a long yellow thing? So they took it and lo, the Creator said,
'Because ye have chosen the banana, your life shall be like its life. When the banana-tree has offspring, the parent stem dies; so shall ye die and your children shall step into your place.’
Man and Woman cried. I think they wanted to live forever. But thanks to bananas there’s no such thing. But then again eating bananas could make you live longer. Hm. F. Just go ahead and eat it. It’s supposed to cure heartbreaks din kasi.
