Lee Miller

Rarely am I smitten by journalist but Lee Miller, whose biography I am now reading, is a rare person. She is the first American female war correspondent but that is only one life of many. She is photographer and model (she posed naked in Hitler's bathtub and later took photos of the house in flames), muse ("Lives of the Muses" has her on the cover) of Man Ray, Picasso, Jean Cocteau, Max Ernst and Ronald Penrose, whom she later married. A champagne glass was modeled after her breast. After writing about the end of war for Vogue, her life became a letdown. She drank and drank. Oh Lee, why do you take it like a man?
