Award competition seeking stories on poverty, hunger
A contest that aims to recognize coverage of hunger and poverty is seeking submissions from print and electronic journalists around the world. The deadline is February 25, 2010.
Works can be on economic inequaility, unemployment, domestic empowerment, sustainable development and more. Entries should have been published between January 1, 2009 and December 31, 2009. International entries should be submitted in English.
Winners of the awards, called the Harry Chapin Media Awards, will be awarded cash prizes of US$1,000 to US$2,500.
The fee to submit one entry is US$25; two entries, US$40; and three to five entries, US$50.
The competition is being sponsored by World Hunger Year (WHY).
