Luis Francia and Jose Garcia Villa

Tomorrow, Monday afternoon, and Tuesday night, John Cowen, the literary trustee of the late poet jose Garcia Villa's works, and I will be interviewed, on the occasion of Penguin Classics reissue of Villa's works. The book was just released last week; I wrote the introduction and John edited the collection. If Villa's works interest you, listen in.

August 4 OR 5th: Leonard Lopate Show on WNYC AM 820 and FM 93.9, at noon. [The website lists noon as the time the show goes on air. However, we're scheduled to be there at 1 p.m. Which means either the show does begin at 1 p.m., or the website is correct, and the interview will air on the next show, which would be the next day at noon.]

August 5: the Asia Pacific Forum show, WBAI, 8-9 p.m., FM, 99.9. this can also be accessed online at www.asiapacificforu m.org

August 5th also happens to be the centennial of Villa, who died in 1997 and was a Philipine National Artist for Literature, at a hospital in the Village.

There will be two readings to mark his centennial, one on August 6th, at the Jefferson Market Library, 6-8 p.m., 10th St, corner of Sixth Avenue in the Village. the other, larger reading will be on Sept. 22 at NYU, details to follow.

Listen in, and come to one or both of the readings.

Luis
